The Boston Strangler
Albert DeSalvo, also known as the Boston Strangler, confessed to killing eleven women but later denied his confession. He was never convicted of the crimes but was sent to prison on other charges, that left people to wonder if he was the Boston Strangler. DeSalvo was killed while in prison, so they were unable to test his DNA. Fortunately, experts were able to obtain DNA from DeSalvo’s nephew and it was a match, proving DeSalvo was guilty of the crimes.
The Cold Case of Krystal Beslanowitch
Krystal Beslanowitch was a seventeen-year-old girl who was killed in 1995. The case went cold for several years, but a sheriff by the name of Todd Bonner was determined to find Beslanowitch’s killer. Using a forensic vacuum to extract DNA from a granite rock, they were able to find the person who killed Beslanowitch. The extracted DNA matched Joseph Michael Simpson and he was arrested for the crime.
The Innocence of Anthony Michael Green
Anthony Michael Green was convicted in 1983 for a crime he did not commit. There was no physical evidence to suggest Green committed the assault, so he was sentenced to 75 years in prison. Green’s case was reopened by District Attorney’s Office where they performed a DNA test that proved his innocence. He was able to leave prison after serving 27 years.
